Helping Good Causes – Extraordinary People Week
NIPO is proud to have played its part in Extraordinary People Week, an initiative within our parent company’s social responsibility programme. Along with thousands of others around the world, our employees dedicated time, effort and money to helping good causes, globally and locally.
Here at NIPO, we spent 23rd to 27th September 2019 providing hands-on help in local communities and raising money for our global partner, Special Olympics.
Supporting local communities
Our Amsterdam team got their hands dirty at the local children’s farm, cleaning and tidying animal cages, stacking hay bundles, cutting the grass and, of course, feeding the animals.

“It was great to see the happy faces of the people and animals we helped.” – ReddyMeanwhile in Madrid, the focus was on feeding people by donating long-lasting food products to the city’s food bank. After delivering the items collected in our offices, a number of NIPO employees also helped out with organising distribution to the needy.

“We were happy to have helped and met all the volunteers who prepare food packages for people in need every day. We hope to be part of more, similar charitable events in the future.” – Henok, Karolis, OscarSpecial Olympics
Special Olympics promotes sport for people with learning disabilities, so they also have opportunities to develop, have fun, show courage and share the experience with their loved ones.
NIPO employees took a creative approach to raising money for Special Olympics by auctioning items and (non-work-related) services such as cooking workshops and rowing lessons.
In an altogether more physical effort, our colleague Hugo joined a group of 20 intrepid Extraordinary People fundraisers who made their way along a difficult 50km stretch of the Great Wall of China. A sponsored trek which started on 7th October 2019 and took a week to complete.

“The experience was amazing! In line with the spirit of Special Olympics that ‘No one is left behind’, we celebrated cooperation, support and achievements. It was also a great opportunity to get to know colleagues from other parts of the world.” – HugoHelping people both directly and through fundraising was a satisfying and enjoyable experience all round. NIPO actively encourages employees to support good causes by allowing 16 hours paid leave (annually) for volunteer work. We wholeheartedly thank all the wonderful people who contributed to Extraordinary People Week and are looking forward to doing more of this in the future!
