Congress in
Shanghai & Guangzhou

ESOMAR APAC Congress, held on the 17th, 18th and 19th May 2017 in Shanghai, inspires market research organizations across the Asia Pacific region. The event provides new data insights and technology solutions designed to help market researchers understand the changes in society and consumer behavior and our team is happy to participate in such an inspiring event.

Asia Pacific makes up 50% of all internet users

The Asia Pacific region is very diverse and requires to employ different approaches to conduct market research projects. Just think about the statistics of population and technology usage.
It’s impressive that the Asia Pacific region is home to nearly 60% of the world’s population and 50% of all internet users in the world. However, the region also shows significant disparity in the accessibility and affordability of internet, mobile and smartphone devices, according to the reports of ICT, Statista, GMS Intelligence and Internet Society. So when talking about internet users, whilst 42% of the local population is online, more than 2.5 billion people (58%) in the region still do not have a connection to the internet.
Another interesting comparison is about smartphone usage. Around 1.2 billion people in the Asia Pacific region own smartphones, which is equivalent to 57% of the world’s smartphone-owning population (2.1 billion). Anyhow, the number looks less staggering when compared to the local population: these 1.2 billion smartphone owners represent only 27% of the Asia Pacific total population of 4.5 billion.

Forecast: spread of digital technologies in India and China

Australia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia are on the top of penetration statistics leaving many countries far behind, but global trends and projections suggest that other countries with China and India in the lead will grow rapidly.

Surely not only these statistics will be in the heart of discussions during the ESOMAR APAC Congress. It's apparent that market research organizations need more sophisticated, mobile, and automated software solutions to help them manage projects efficiently in today’s ever-changing world.
